Community Partners

Community Partners

Community Partners are organizations that donate the use of their facilities to support one or more of SOMO’s many programs. Their generosity is essential to sustaining the strength and variety of Special Olympics in Montgomery County.

Our Community Partners have many options for renting their athletic facilities. They choose instead to donate the use of their facilities to support our athletes. We can never thank them enough for their generosity!

Blessed Sacrament Church is the home of our Adult Recreational Basketball program each winter.

Maryland Twisters provides the practice gym for our Cheerleading program.

TopGolf Germantown is the home of SOMO’s new TopGolf recreational programs in the Spring and Fall. This a part of a nationwide partnership with Special Olympics where TopGolf donates bay time at their facilities for Special Olympics programs on Mondays through Thursdays.

Georgetown Prep is the home of SOMO’s annual Inspiration Walk. The Inspiration Walk is held on the bye weekend for Georgetown Prep’s football team, and the entire team volunteers at the Walk. Georgetown Prep also hosts SOMO’s 5v5 Basketball Qualifier for our Advanced and Intermediate 5v5 competitive basketball programs. Their basketball team also volunteers to help during the Basketball Qualifier.

Gold’s Gym hosts our Powerlifting practices at their Gaithersburg location near the Montgomery County Airpark.

Bowlero in Gaithersburg hosts both of SOMO’s Bowling programs, Competitive Bowling in the Fall and Recreational Bowling in the Spring.

The Landon School hosts our Recreational Youth Basketball program where many Landon students also volunteer as Unified Partners to work with our athletes. Landon also hosts SOMO’s Soccer Qualifier and is the home of SOMO’s Annual Spring Games for our Bocce and Track & Field (Athletics) programs.

Montgomery College was the 2025 home for our Swimming program.

MCG‘s Northwest Golf Course provides our Golf Team practice facilities. Their Rattlewood Golf Course also hosts the Montgomery County Golf Qualifier. Their Hampshire Greens Golf Course hosts our annual Montgomery Masters Golf Tournament.

Montgomery County Recreation supports three our programs. The Potomac Community Center is the home of SOMO’s Competitive Adult Basketball – Advanced program and our Spring and Fall Young Athlete Programs. The Margaret Schweinhaut Senior Center supports SOMO’s Bocce program.

Stone Ridge’s pool is the practice location for our Swimming team. Stone Ridge students and staff volunteer to support our Swimming program. Each spring, Stone Ridge also hosts and manages SOMO’s Swimming Qualifier competition.
